Maryport
Taste of the Sea 2025

The Taste of the Sea festival is back – even bigger and better!

Saturday 9 and Sunday 10 August 2025

Maryport is welcoming back Taste Cumbria on Saturday 9 and Sunday 10 August 2025 for the Taste of the Sea festival.

For the first time it will take place over two sites on the waterfront. There’s the new Harbourside event space, created as part Cumberland Council’s £12 million regeneration of the town, as well as the big Marina location which proved so popular at the 2024 festival.

There will be loads going on for foodies, families, locals and visitors. New for this year is the Maryport Teenage Market, building on the success of the one which takes place in Carlisle. The Harbourside event space will also host the ever-popular expert demonstrations, including chef Jack Stein, son of TV star Rick Stein, and Cumbria’s own Masterchef winner Irini Tzortzoglou.

Here’s a taste of the festival line-up – all of this is FREE to attend. Stalls open 10am to 5pm on Saturday and 10am to 4pm on Sunday.

On the Marina

  • Producers’ Market including Fresh seafood from Chelaris fishing boat – be quick, they often sell out on the Saturday!
  • Picnic area with live music from local bands
  • Hot food stalls
  • Festival bar with the pirates from Maryport Round Table
  • Fairground rides
  • Children’s entertainment with Party Time Cumbria, face painting and arts & crafts

On the Harbourside

  • The Demo stage – including Jack Stein and Irini Tzortzoglou
  • Maryport Teenage Market
  • TEG market traders
  • Family picnic area
  • The acoustic stage with sea shanties, storytelling & more

In the Town Centre

  • The Maritime Museum Trail – pick up entry forms from the info point in the Producers’ Market
  • Lots of great local businesses for you to explore!

Traders stalls are now fully booked.

Elsewhere in town there are even more things to see and do, including live music in many of the pubs in the evenings.

The Taste Cumbria events are a huge team effort. They are organised by Cumberland Council and our major sponsor Maryport Town Council. The event is also proudly supported by Maryport Business Group, Maryport Round Table, Maryport Harbour Authority, Milburns, Grants oak Smoked and Thomas Armstrong.

Maryport’s Taste of the Sea event will be followed by the flagship Taste Cumbria festival in Cockermouth on Saturday 27 and Sunday 28 September, then Taste Cumbria Carlisle on Saturday 1 and Sunday 2 November, with the Taste Cumbria Christmas Festival on Saturday 6 and Sunday 7 December.

Getting here

The nearest mainline train station is Carlisle – change here for the train to Maryport on the Cumbrian Coast Line. If you are travelling by car, follow the A595 from Carlisle, or leave the M6 at junction 42, take the A595 or A596 west and you should be here in just less than an hour. Here’s the bus timetable. And here’s a link to trains.

Parking

Travelling to our Maryport festival on 10/11 August? Here’s a handy link to the car parks.  If you’re parking on the street, please check local signs for restrictions. You’ll need a timing disc for many of them – these are available from many local businesses.
